Here Explain The History and Mystery of the Discovery of DNA

DNA which is a nucleic acid is a type of a set of instructions and rules that are found in the cells of all the living creatures. Eukaryotic organisms, who have just one nucleus, store the materials of DNA there. DNA teaches the cells what the ways of growth are and how to undertake the different functions. Organisms like bacteria who are called Prokaryotes and who does not possess a nucleus store the information in their cytoplasm. Thus DNA is a great discovery which has been the subject matter of intense research and study.

Introduction of DNA to Scientific investigation

In 1869 a Swiss doctor, Friedrich Miescher first saw DNA while examining pus from wounds of surgery. He noticed a peculiar microscopic substance inside the nucleus. He named it nuclein as it was found within the nucleus. Can Friedrich Miescher be called the discoverer of DNA? In principle, he ought to be. He was the first person who identified these intriguing objects inside the cell, although he was not aware of what they were.

The Story of the DNA

In 1919, Phoebus Levene identified the base, sugar and phosphate, and named it as a nucleotide unit. He put forward that DNA might be tied together nucleotide units and are bound by phosphate groups. In 1937 Willium Astbury gave proof of the fact that DNA possesses a definite structure. But the structure was still unidentified
